Vineyard Haven to Provincetown, anchor

Keeping with our "go where we haven't gone before" theme, we made a longer run across the canal to get to Provincetown. This tourist destination is tucked are the tippy-top point of Massachusetts peninsula. Given it's proximity to Boston, that makes is a big weekend "hot spot". Mooring balls go for $2.50 to $3 a foot... each night. Thus the anchor.

The day was perfect. We picked a calm wind morning to cross back over to the Woodhole Cut, then up Buzzards Bay and across Cape Cod Bay. The only pitching and rolling we did was when we passed a tow boat on the canal going the other way. At the time we were overtaking a sailboat, and the tow boat was in the middle of the canal or edging to our side of it. As a result we caught a significant part of his wake, slamming in 6 footers on the nose.

Up and out before dawn. Haven't done THAT
in a while!
Otherwise, excellent day.

Once here we all piled into the Highwind dinghy and headed to "PTown". Which today was called "VPTown" since (as it turned out) VP Kalama Harris was holding a fundraiser. We did get to walk a bit, eat a bit, and play some games.

Awesome day on the water

Highwind passing us so they could drop an anchor.
There's is bigger, and with a 15 foot tide swing, they also
have a LOT more anchor rode.

The main drag in Provincetown.
It reminded Hannah and David of Key West, and us the French Quarter.

Heading back to the boats the dinghy dock filled up a bit.
We're all trying to move dinghies so we could back up.
