| Jut a few more sunsets before we go |
After talking to electric professionals Russ had a much better idea of what he wanted done. For the entire month of October, he made it happen. This included putting in breakers, rewiring some new switches, and changing out the cabinet doors. It was a lot of YouTube watching, part ordering, more part ordering, and so much fiddly hand work that his hands cramped so his meager apprentice had to step in and help finish. That would be me, by the way.
He finished it about 2 days before we flew to San Francisco.

The wood panel on the left is new, the right yet to be done. Even the hole below where the old vacuum is completely covered. |
We've known for a while that the promenade along the waterfront at the marina needed repair. Apparently, sections needed to be completely replaced. That, of course, was along docks A, B, and C... and we are on B. To do a replacement, the old promenade would have to be removed, the water barrier redone, then the walkway recreated. That means bringing in a barge with a crane, and that means moving a significant portion of the B dock, from slip 1 to 20. We're B12. Yep, he had to move. On a very calm Saturday morning, we moved to B 30 to complete our winterizing.

| Ta da! |
Those last 2 days were spent setting up the bubbler, testing the hull heaters, putting antifreeze in the engines and the AC system and the black tanks, and blowing out all the water from the plumbing.
The last day is always a challenge. Once we eliminate heat and water that results in a cold boat and long walks to the marina bathrooms (remember, we're in 30 now, which is much further).
But that wasn't the stressor. We had storms the night before with crazy winds that were blowing up the river. Even though it wasn't a full moon, the water level was crazy high. Around 10 am the marina manager told up we were at LOW tide, and if things continued the water line might breach the promenade. If that happen they have to shut off dock power, and if that happen we no longer can get to land -- the dock gate are electrically sealed. Our flight wasn't until 6 pm, giving us the whole day to finish up stuff, but this information made us hustle a bit and get done sooner.

If you've been to Anchorage then you've probably walked this path to the Safeway. Today due to the winds you'll get your feet wet. |
Consequently, a couple of things were forgotten on the boat before we Uber-ed to the airport, like Russ's condo keys. But all in all the day went fine. The water level didn't get quiet that high (close, around 6 inches). We spent a few extra hours at the airport playing games on our phones and laptops. The flight ran on time and, despite the wind, was pretty smooth.

| Even the small public dock is submerged. |
And now we're back in SF for the winter.
